i dreamt i was in an oversized victorian house. where each room had a different theme depending on how the visitor was feeling. black walls, tiled floors to chipped cream and woodwork. it was a salon for hair.

i needed a change. again. as if the hairs on our head should mean anything at all. samson wouldn’t question our theories. i sat in a chair that moved up and down with ease. the room filled with people and opinions. i wondered if it was my hair i wanted to change.

as the building started to burn i was the only one left remaining. i woke to rain.

I adore looking through old photo albums. It's strange to think I have placed most of these memories, thoughts and images in the back of my dusty mind. It's like all of these subconscious lessons have been learned through vintage telescopes and foggy magnifying glasses. I wonder what the others see. If they imagine the past as vividly and peaceful as I. Perhaps I'm just an optimistic dreamer, floating down a strawberry stream.

city by the sea

The air is cold and the land is desolate. In a matter of months the smooth sand will be toasted by the sun and rearranged by the toes of strangers. Local businesses are closed and you can't find a pancake for miles. The empty city by the sea is calm, a place where seagulls and seashells are your closest friends and crashing waves beg for attention.

the snow is melting and it's bound to return. this is the second time my eyes have studied the chipped red barnyard paint and the stream that slices the land in two.

i can imagine green grass and scattered wild flowers dancing in a warm breeze along a toasty greenhouse overflowing with flowers, fruits and veggies.

the crisp red barn will be smoothed and lathered with a fresh coat of red paint. a waterwheel will rest along its side dipping into the stream again and again to stay cool.

music from another era is echoing in the background bringing back distant memories for all who visit and making new ones for the young puddle jumpers and pumpkin carvers.

Hello friend,

This photo reminds me of us. An early morning filled with fresh pancakes and blueberries. Not to mention black coffee in mason jars all on the vintage table we found at that fancy lady with the muumuu's yard sale.

We eat slow while records spin and the sun beams in on the floral pea green recliner sitting quietly in the corner.

Now we are tired so we decide to color with all the crayons we can find. I draw flowers and you design oversized cozy sweaters.

It smells sweet and there isn't any place we would rather be...

that lady with the muumuu had some great things didn't she?! i love that spotlight-kinda lamp we got from her, and those curtains! they were so beautiful- i may try to convince you to let me use one of them to make a skirt!

i bet you're glad we found this table, although i'm sure you're so sad to replace the large wooden one i brought with me from 85.

i'm so happy you and i did this farm thing. it's the best thing we've ever done. it's given us the freedom to be creative and unrestricted...to have fun and most importantly...to be us!

oh and, hey, mike- you're in the kitchen, right? will you run out here? i need some (more) coffee...

It's tough to make mistakes.
To feel the slightest bit of regret even though you don't believe in regret and you're not exactly sure why you feel bad in the first place.

Got so drunk last night my moonlight memories fade in and out.
thought i was fine but turns out i was wrong.

i had such disregard for judgement today.
It's like i didn't mind if people stared or thought it was weird my hair was messy and my shirt was slipping off my left shoulder.

because even though people judge you can't let it slip into your bubble...Into the circular representation that floats about this world that is you.
YOU. no one else no one less.

i got a fortune cookie that reads, "you are what you think"
we are only as good and wonderful as we think we are and what we expect of ourselves.
