Tale of east 2nd street and Avenue A

Fortune Teller by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss

Went to the fortune teller
To have my fortune read I
didn't what to tell her
I had a dizzy feeling in my head

Said she'd take a look at my palm
Said "Son do you feel kind of warm?"
And she looked into her crystal ball
Said "You're in love."

Said it could not be so,
Not with all the girls I know.
Said when the next one arrives
Looking into her eyes.

I left there in a hurry
Much to my big surprise
The next thing I discovered
The fortune teller told me lies

So I ran back to that woman
Mad as I could be
Told her I didn't see nobody
How she made a fool out of me

At last something shook me
As if it came down from above
And now the fortune teller
And I fell in love

"I'm a dreamer. I don't see myself as a musician," she smiles. "I'm aperson just living in my own world. I see my whole life as a movie.Sometimes I'm in the movie and sometimes I'm just watching."

"I don't want to be like this girl onstage dancing. I want to be Iggy Pop"

It's tough to make mistakes.
To feel the slightest bit of regret even though you don't believe in regret and you're not exactly sure why you feel bad in the first place.

Got so drunk last night my moonlight memories fade in and out.
thought i was fine but turns out i was wrong.

i had such disregard for judgement today.
It's like i didn't mind if people stared or thought it was weird my hair was messy and my shirt was slipping off my left shoulder.

because even though people judge you can't let it slip into your bubble...Into the circular representation that floats about this world that is you.
YOU. no one else no one less.

i got a fortune cookie that reads, "you are what you think"
we are only as good and wonderful as we think we are and what we expect of ourselves.

orange lily morning

as the flowers began to fade
and all signs of life escaped them,
so did hannah's thoughts of her past love
the seasons were changing
and the time had come
for hannah and ben to go their separate ways...

Monday

two responses to a conformist society

i like red sneakers

men wearing optional blue uniforms
marching briskly in the same direction
they've all got a cause
though it may not be the same one

are they all different?
are they all the same?
where is the one who feels like an outsider?
oh, there he is...with the red sneakers on...

up stream in a down world

no blue button down for me
i am feeling fancy free

so what if I'm floating up stream
and slightly extreme

a hidden toe jewel
an extra ring
when i am moving with the pack
i am walking as i sing

...seriously...where am i? thank gosh I'm not wearing
a blue button down...

sand castles & champagne

I can't read poetry
in the poetry aisle
I stand and I look
& I think for awhile

It will contaminate my thoughts
till I go insane
I would rather

build sand castles
& drink champagne
"it's good to talk"

& it's good to cry

she's a sunflower
she's a dream
she's quiet when she schemes

when she is sad the whole world knows

tears

fall
drip

roll...

& the horizon slowly silks up melting into it's usual cotton candy
ways
and marshmallow days...
